Speaker A:

Foreign hi, I'm Tracey Heatley and welcome to the Better Marketing Podcast, bringing you marketing magic in minutes.

Speaker A:

In this episode, I'll be helping you to view AI as your creative partner, a supportive tool that enhances your own creativity.

Speaker A:

Think of it like having your own marketing assistant by your side.

Speaker A:

We'll look at how AI can remove the overwhelm when it comes to content creation, especially for small business owners who are spinning lots of plates at the same time.

Speaker A:

And as a small business owner myself, I get it.

Speaker A:

I know what that's like.

Speaker A:

My ultimate goal is to help you use AI to do more or simply do it better.

Speaker A:

By the end of this episode, I want you to feel informed, confident and empowered to start using AI to support your content creation process.

Speaker A:

So let's delve into it and get cracking, shall we?

Speaker A:

First of all, I want to give you a bit of reassurance that AI won't replace your voice.

Speaker A:

When used in the right way, it can actually help you to express your ideas more clearly and more consistently than ever.

Speaker A:

Whether you're writing blogs, planning social media posts, or creating podcast content like this, AI can be your sounding board.

Speaker A:

You can bounce ideas, you can check your flow, and you can really polish your drafts.

Speaker A:

You're still in control.

Speaker A:

You still make the decisions.

Speaker A:

AI just makes the process easier or speeds it up and makes it much faster for you.

Speaker A:

So let's break it down about how AI can support you step by step.

Speaker A:

First of all, let's focus on planning content.

Speaker A:

AI can help you get organized.

Speaker A:

AI can help you get organized by turning your ideas into a structured plan.

Speaker A:

Whether you're building your content calendar, you're mapping out your blog series, or you're preparing email sequences, AI can help you create outlines in in seconds, minutes tops.

Speaker A:

For example, you could ask it to create a six week blog plan on a particular topic and it will give you the structure to build on.

Speaker A:

It's a great starting point when you're staring at a blank screen.

Speaker A:

We've all been sat there staring at a blank screen with a blank mind trying to come up with ideas.

Speaker A:

And it's really good for helping you to do that, or at the very least bounce ideas off it to see what it thinks about your original ideas.

Speaker A:

It's really great at generating ideas for you.

Speaker A:

So if you're stuck for inspiration, AI can help brainstorm.

Speaker A:

It can help decipher which order you should do things in.

Speaker A:

Whether it's coming up with blog titles or hooks for a social media post, or themes for your podcast episodes, it's like having a creative partner who never runs out of ideas.

Speaker A:

Think of it as your assistant.

Speaker A:

It's there to help you.

Speaker A:

You don't have to use every suggestion that it gives you.

Speaker A:

It's a spark.

Speaker A:

It's an idea for inspiration, maybe a way of getting your own creative juices flowing without the pressure of coming up with everything for yourself.

Speaker A:

It's also great for writing initial drafts so you can use AI to draft content quickly.

Speaker A:

Whether it's a first attempt at a blog or an intro paragraph maybe, or perhaps a product description for an online product that you're selling.

Speaker A:

It gets you over that initial hurdle.

Speaker A:

This is especially helpful when time is tight or you're just not in the mood to write.

Speaker A:

We all have mental blocks from time to time, and you can always refine it later.

Speaker A:

But having a rough draft is often half the battle.

Speaker A:

It's also great for getting feedback and refining your own content.

Speaker A:

Even more so.

Speaker A:

Think of AI as your first reviewer.

Speaker A:

It's not unusual for us to write something and perhaps get somebody else to check it.

Speaker A:

Over.

Speaker A:

Proofreading it, editing it, that kind of thing.

Speaker A:

It's great to run through AI and get it to check and highlight certain words that you're using over and over again without even realizing it.

Speaker A:

Does this sound too formal?

Speaker A:

Shall I tone it down a bit?

Speaker A:

Just get its opinion on what it is that you're trying to do.

Speaker A:

You can also suggest maybe a more friendlier version.

Speaker A:

Perhaps it's like having a second option, one that's available 247 now.

Speaker A:

If we think back in time, if somebody's writing a book, it's not uncommon for them to have an editor.

Speaker A:

So why not use AI to do that and help you review things and maybe improve them or tweak them slightly?

Speaker A:

It doesn't mean that it's not you and it's not your work.

Speaker A:

You're not relying on AI 100% to do things for you.

Speaker A:

It's there to assist you.

Speaker A:

It's brilliant for editing and proofreading.

Speaker A:

It means you don't have to get somebody else to cast their eye over it.

Speaker A:

It can spot typos you've not seen.

Speaker A:

You know, quite often if we write something our as we proofread it, we think it looks okay, and that's because our brains know what's there.

Speaker A:

I was taught, you know, many years ago, if I'm proofreading something for some marketing material, to actually read it backwards so that you're reading the words, not what you know is there.

Speaker A:

You must have had times like that I know I have when I've proofread something that I've written myself, and I think, yeah, it looks really accurate.

Speaker A:

And then somebody else looks at it and they pick up on those mistakes.

Speaker A:

You can run it through AI and it can check that within seconds for you.

Speaker A:

It doesn't replace that human editor.

Speaker A:

It doesn't ever replace humans.

Speaker A:

But it's a really good safety net, especially for small tasks and quick turnarounds that you need.

Speaker A:

If you need to get something published and you need to do it quickly, then why not?

Speaker A:

And also it frees up that need for human input.

Speaker A:

Now, I want to talk to you about repurposing content, because AI is brilliant for getting more value from your content than you've already created.

Speaker A:

You can turn a blog into a LinkedIn post or LinkedIn article.

Speaker A:

You can summarize a podcast episode for a newsletter.

Speaker A:

You can break a blog down, come up with new social media posts that are all to do with that.

Speaker A:

And it can do it within such a short space of time.

Speaker A:

So why not run it through, ask it to reword something for a Facebook post?

Speaker A:

Maybe, maybe have something a little bit different on LinkedIn than you would on Facebook or Instagram or whatever other social media platform.

Speaker A:

Even if it's a blog that you wrote a few years ago, if it's still relevant and you want to use it, why not run it through AI and get it to repurpose it for social media?

Speaker A:

Ultimately, all of this is going to save you time, it's going to save you money, it's going to save you brain power, it's going to help speed up and redefine your marketing.

Speaker A:

I think that I've given you a few tips of how you can use it and get cracking with that now, but let's just have a quick recap, shall we?

Speaker A:

So ultimately, there's six ways that you can start to use AI for your content creation right now.

Speaker A:

You can build on it over time, but to get started, you can use it for planning content, generating ideas, drafting your first versions, refining your own work, editing and proofreading, and repurposing what you've already created.

Speaker A:

Even if you just start with those few steps, it will make a huge difference to your marketing.

Speaker A:

So whether you're using AI to save time, spark ideas, or you just feel like you need to be more confident about your content, it's there to support you, not replace you.

Speaker A:

So why not use it?

Speaker A:

And remember, you don't have to dive into it all at once.

Speaker A:

You can start where it feels most helpful for you.

Speaker A:

You can try using it to plan and to get feedback or tidy up a post, perhaps test it, tweak it and make it work for you.
